Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh and Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam, who also holds the portfolio of Home, left Imphal for Delhi today to discuss the prospects of the Congress party in the coming Lok Sabha Election scheduled to be held next year.
According to a reliable source, with Lok Sabha Election just round the corner, various political parties in the State have started "blowing their respective trumpet and at the same time highlighting the faults of each other.
With this trend in progress, the Congress party is seriously considering who should be fielded for the inner and outer parliamentary seats of the State in the Lok Sabha election.
Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh and his deputy would have a thorough discussion on the matter with the party high command.
The source informed that the question of reshuffling the Council of Ministers has been put on hold for the time being.
Since a reshuffling at this juncture may create problems, it may be discussed only after the Lok Sabha poll.
During their visit to Delhi, Chief Minister O Ibobi and Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam would also meet National leaders to discuss the matter related to filling up the post of Chairman of Manipur Pollution Control Board, MANIDCO and MANITRON before the Lok Sabha election, the source said, adding that the names of some Congress MLAs including RK Anand and Dr Ng Bijoy, who were earlier MLAs of MPP, may also be considered for the post of Chairman or Parliamentary Secretaries.
