Imphal, May 06 2013:
The Cabinet has decided to deny villagers of both Seijang and Silent to assess or construct any structure within the area under dispute.
The Cabinet meeting presided by Chief Minister O Ibobi yesterday discussed the May 3 outrage during which 36 houses of Silent village were burnt down by some people of neighbouring Seijang village.
The meeting resolved to prohibit villagers of both Seijang and Silent from entering the disputed area.
Imphal East and Senapati DCs have been instructed to enforce the ban effectively.
It is reported that a police team would be stationed in the disputed area.
The meeting further resolved to set up a Cabinet sub-committee which would intervene and resolve the land dispute between Silent and Seijang at the earliest.
Already, Senapati district administration has imposed restrictions in the said area under CrPC Section 144 .
