Imphal, May 06 2013:
Condemning the May 3 incident at Silent village wherein 36 houses were burned down in a land row, the Kuki Inpi Manipur has blamed the State Government for the fallout of such incident while also urging for immediate rehabilitation and resettlement of the victims.
A statement issued by KIM general secretary, Khaimang Chongloi categorically questioned as to why the Government had failed to provide security if it was to their knowledge that the area is prone to such incident.
The Kuki Inpi statement urged all concerned not to give communal tinge to the incident while also urging the Govt to settle the dispute between the two villages at the earliest.
It further appealed all concerned to exert collective efforts for the prevalence of communal harmony and peaceful coexistence of all communities.
Meanwhile, the Zeliangrong Union (AMN) has also registered its strong condemnation over the act of Seijang villagers who took the law into their hand and torched the houses of Silent villagers on May 3 .
Urging the State Govt to immediately book the culprits involved in the outrage, the ZU, in a statement, also demanded settlement of the matter as per land provisions and records of the State.
Maintaining that such incidents should neither be repeated in future nor seen in communal angle, the ZU also said that any instigation of vested interest or sinister design should be nipped in the bud.
Advocating mutual understanding and peaceful coexistence among the different ethnic groups of the State, the ZU also appealed the conflicting villages to settle the dispute as per laws of the land.
At the same time, condemning the Silent village outrage incident, the All Tribal Disabled Union, Manipur (ATDUM) appealed all concerned not to communalise the matter.
A statement issued by Assistant I&P secretary of ATDUM, G Thambousana said that the matter should be solved amicably by the two villages through legal process.
While also sharing the suffering of the victims, ATDUM called for necessary measures for the immediate rehabilitation of the victims.
The Chanura Lamchinglel Kangleipak (CLK) has also condemned the arson attack on Silent village.
NNN Adds: All Manipur Tribal Union (AMTU) strongly condemns the burning down of Silent village causing complete dismantling of 36 houses by the villagers of Seijang village on May 3 .
AMTU president D.P Panmei said such uncivilized act is not a solution to the land dispute between two villages; instead it will invite a communal tension that will always burn in the minds of the victims.
Extension of reliefs to the victims is not the solution.
But settlement of their cases by the concerned authorities will be the only solution in the long run.
Timely intervention by the police would have averted such ugly situation, D.P Panmei lamented.
"The appeals from the Government and other organizations to the two villages to avoid the communal tension at this critical juncture is sounding like the barking of a dog behind the retreating elephant.
The Government was aware of that impending feud/incident between the two villages but connived at it and failed to intervene in time.
As a result the burning down of Silent village took place which is very unfortunate.
It is because of the failure to act in time by the Police, such unwanted incident happened.
Such incident should not be allowed to recur in future," AMTU president DP Panmei said.
