15 fresh cases detected, 13 discharged

Imphal, December 28 2021:
Amid the scare after confirmation of an Omicron case in the state, 15 new positive cases of Covid-19 were reported on Tuesday.
The 15 fresh cases were detected out of 1416 samples tested in the last 24 hours and a daily positivity rate of 1.06 per cent was reported on Tuesday as compared to 1.15 per cent recorded on Monday.
On the other hand, no new death case was reported on Tuesday and the fatality tally stands at 2002.In all 13 patients were discharged from home isolation (4), JNIMS (3) and CCCs (6) in the last 24 hours while the active caseload rose to 180 out of which 15 (8.33 per cent) are in home isolation.
There is no updated information on bed availabilities in hospitals and Covid Care Centres.
Out of the 16 districts, only five reported fresh Covid cases on Tuesday.
So far, the state has recorded 96,347 positive cases and 1628 fatalities since the beginning of the second wave of the pandemic.
The current month has reported 542 new positive cases and 25 fatalities out of which 86 new cases and 7 fatalities were added in the last seven days alone.
According to official reports, the 15 fresh cases included 13 people (7 male & 6 female) from among the general population and 2 personnel of Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) whose samples were confirmed at RIMS (1) and other testing centres (14) .
The positive cases from among the general population are from Imphal West (10), Thoubal (1), Bishnupur (1) and Chandel (1).All necessary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.
The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 1,25,747 (general population - 1,21,311 and CAPF personnel - 4,436) .
Number of recovered cases is 1,23,565 (general population 1,19,137 and CAPF personnel - 4,428) and number of active cases is 180 (general population - 177 and CAPF personnel - 3) .
The recovery rate is 98.26 per cent.
A total of 230 D-type and 26 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities in the last 24 hours.
Meanwhile, 4886 vaccine doses were administered on Monday and it took the cumulative number of vaccinated people to 13,20,657 out of which 9,80,793 have been fully vaccinated.
As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (44,141), Imphal East (27,944), Thoubal (9492), Churachandpur (10,192), Kangpokpi (2793), Tamenglong (3284), Bishnupur(9238), Senapati (2249), Ukhrul (2999), Kakching (6451), Chandel (2367), Noney (1076), Tengnoupal (1077), Jiribam (1025), Kamjong (955) and Pherzawl (464) .
Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (672), Imphal East (479), Thoubal (179), Churachandpur (163), Kangpokpi (62), Tamenglong (14), Bishnupur (194), Senapati (10), Ukhrul (44), Kakching (115), Chandel (41), Noney (4), Tengnoupal (13), Jiribam (7), Kamjong (5) and Pherzawl (0) .
Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 40,524 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 24,854 CPM.
Test rate has improved to 4,69,659 tests per million population against the national average of 4,81,429 TPM.
Case fatality rate stands at 1.59 per cent.
In the past 24 hours, only 1416 samples were tested and the single day positivity rate was 1.06 per cent per cent while the cumulative positivity came down to 8.63 per cent.
