Manipur belongs to all communities: CM

Chief minister N Biren Singh on Tuesday inaugurated the Meetei Society Office Building of Churachandpur in a function held at his Secretariat office here.
The Society's office building was funded by the State Planning Department in 2017-2018.Speaking at the inaugural function as chief guest, Biren expressed elation that he could inaugurate the facility after protracted disruption to normal activities due to outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic and other unavoidable circumstances.
Recalling the role played by the Meitei/Meetei community in safeguarding the motherland on numerous occasions including the Seven Years' Devastation and freedom struggle against the British, he stated that such acts of valour by our forefathers earned a place in the national as well as international history.
The CM also stressed the need for the Meitei people to contribute their mite in trying to uplift the dignity of the Meetei/Meitei community just as the Nagas, Kukis, Meitei-Pangals, etc, strive to safeguard their respective communities.
Biren also called upon all the communities residing in the state to live together with peace and love to contribute in the nation building process.
Asserting that the state belongs to all communities residing in both hills and valley, he also appealed to the Meiteis residing in every district as minorities to live without fear and further added that the Meetei society should play a great role in bringing peace and tranquillity with other communities.
The inaugural function was attended by Rajya Sabha MP Maharaja Leishemba Sanajaoba, Manipur Development Society chairman M Asnikumar Singh and Meetei Society, Churachandpur president M Thoiba Singh.
