Too many intending candidates will lead to MP's fall: Loken
Source: Chronicle News Service

Imphal, December 28 2021: Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) celebrated the 137th foundation day of Indian National Congress at the party's Congress Bhawan office here on Tuesday by offering floral tributes to the founders and presenting gifts to veteran leaders of the party.

Speaking on the occasion, MPCC president MLA N Loken informed that one of the main reasons behind BJP's eminent fall in the 2022 state assembly election will be their numerous intending candidates, who are vying for the party's ticket.

The BJP government will become powerless after the Election Commission issues election notification on January 7 or 8 .

Rather than facing Congress candidates, BJP will have a tough time facing their own intending candidates, whom the party will deny tickets, and it will become one of the main reasons for the party's defeat in the election.

The public will only have to endure the suppressive regime of BJP for only about nine or 10 days.

After that Congress will return to power after March 15 and people of the state will have a sigh of relief, he said while encouraging the party workers to play major role in ensuring the party's victory in the 2022 election.

Reaching out to the public by carrying the message of the development works taken up by Congress in the previous three terms will definitely strengthen the party's position, he said.

Former chief minister O Ibobi recalled that Mahatma Gandhi's non-violence movement played a major role in wresting freedom from the British Empire.

Likewise, non-violence is the absolute way to win the hearts of the public.

BJP is indulging in a cheap publicity campaign with flags, photos and false propaganda.

However, these such publicity stunts cannot win the hearts of the people.

Congress took up development works in a fast pace in its three terms but the five years of BJP rule has slowed down the progress significantly and the public are aware of this fact.

Except for construction of a couple of foot overbridge and realignment of road medians in front of Raj Bhavan, the BJP government did nothing new.

All other projects were initiated during the Congress rule.

BJP government is giving assurance of completing by 2022 the Jiri-Tupul-Imphal railway line, whose foundation was laid by the UPA government.

However, as per his source, it is said that the project will take at least five years to complete, Ibobi said while decrying the BJP government for misleading the public with false propaganda and promises.

Expressing concern over the increasing rate of poll-related violence in the state, the CLP leader said that one should give up the idea of threatening the public to win votes and remain in power.

There is no place for violence in democracy and it is time to teach the lesson that violence cannot bring victory.

He also expressed hope that the investigation into these violent incidents will bring out the truth to the public.

He also called upon the party workers and supporters for their collective efforts to increase the party's strength and to fight Heirok-like incidents with non-violence means.

AICC CWC member Gaikhangam said that Congress is not just any political party but it is also an organisation that played major role in attaining freedorn of the country.

The party was formed on the foundation of secularism.

The status of the country in the international area did not come automatically.

It is the result of hard works and dedication put in by several leaders who worked relentlessly to uplift the status of the country and to make it a global super power.

It is rather funny for BJP to question the contribution of Congress party in the country's history and development without knowing that the present status brought by the party.

He also called the BJP government and its policies anti-national, anti-people and anti-development while adding that Congress party is the only party that can stand against BJP and bring peace in the country.

He further called upon the party workers to renew their pledge to stand for the unity and integrity of Manipur as well as the country.
