Legal awareness programme on 'Rights of Married Women' held

The Manipur State Commission for Women (MSCW) organized a one day legal awarness programme under the banner 'Rights of Married Women' today at Liwa Sarei Community Hall in Chandel district.
The programme sponsored by the National Commission for Women was jointly organised by MSCW and Sirti Sanuw Ruh (Monsang Women Union), Chandel and was attended by Thumlip Thiningpham Monsang, chairperson (incharge), MSCW; Lourembam Dayabati Devi, member, MSCW; T Chuongsin Koireng, member, MSCW and Ts Dinpham, president SSR as presidium members, said a statement issued by MSCW.
Khaidem Santa Singh, advocate and Kh Jacky Lucy, advocate spoked on rights of married women at the programme which was attended by more than 100 women from different communities.

MSCW also visited the residence of Anamika Ahongshangbam who was said to be forcibly eloped and wrongfully confined by one Rajkumar Master Meitei on December 12 .
The chaiperson and members of MSCW had an interaction with the victim for an hour and inquired her about the incident minutely, added the statement.
The visiting MSCW team assured the victim and her family that the Commission will investigate the matter fully and expeditiously in line with the applicable laws.
The Coimmission has also sought status report into the incident from the DGP to be submitted on or before January 5, 2022 .
