ADC election to be held in May

A state cabinet meeting held on Monday evening decided to conduct the Autonomous District Council (ADC) election in the month of May.
The meeting, which was chaired by Chief Minister O Ibobi, was held at his bungalow.
The meeting decided to conduct the ADC elections in the month of May and to complete all the election-related procedures before the end of the month.
The State Government has now instructed the State Election Commission to begin preparation so that the election is being held and completed in time.
NPF woos Naga voters With the elections to the Autonomous District Council (ADC) just around the corner, Naga Peoples' Front (NPF), Manipur State Unit has stepped up its poll campaign in Ukhrul District in a bid to woo voters.
The regional political party's call for unity among the Naga brethren to protect their rights and identity reverberated through the 'One Day Political Awareness Campaign' organized by the NPF Chingai Area Unit on Tuesday at Nungbi Khullen village, about 45 Km from the District Headquarters.
The campaign was participated by party unit presidents, youth wing, women wing, prominent NPF leaders and hundreds of workers, supporters and well-wishers from across the three assembly constituencies of the district- Phungyar, Chingai and Ukhrul Centre.
Addressing the largely attended meeting, NPF-Manipur State Unit president Awangbow Newmai said that NPF is the only common platform where all Nagas should come together and work for the cause of protecting their political rights, aspirations and identities.
He said that NPF is the only party which could achieve the dual goal of securing the political rights and constitutional provisions for the Nagas.
Meanwhile, MLA 44 Ukhrul Samuel Risom said that NPF Manipur state unit has decided to put up a total of 26 candidates including two nominees from Ukhrul district in the forthcoming ADC polls.
