Locals fight over sharing of money meant for feasting

Imphal, May 10 2011:
A brutal clash between two groups of people following disagreement over sharing of money meant for feasting rendered four persons critically injured in Sangaiyumpham Chirupur Mathak in Thoubal district of Manipur.
The injured have been admitted to hospitals but the results are awaited even as the locality simmers under the rage of revenge.
On May 9 at about 9:30 pm, the Muslims dominated Sangaiyumpham Chirupur Mathak experienced a fierce disagreement between two groups over how to share 3 lakh rupees gifted to them by Md Allaudin Khan, minister of minority and other backward classes (MOBC), for the purpose of feasting.
Sources said arguments ensued when a group had demanded a share of the 3 lakh rupees.
However, in the wee hours today (Tuesday), the disagreement quickly turned into an ugly free-for-all confrontation with both sides resorting to stick, stone and even license guns to attack members of the other group.
Both the warring factions are said to be the supporters of the minister.
The police rushed to the spot to quell the situation only in the morning by which time the confrontation had left four persons critically injured from ensuing gunfire.
The injured have been identified as Md Elias Khan (17), Md Islauddin, Md Zameer Khan (27) and Md Ajiruddin (60).They have been admitted to Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) and Shija Hospital under critical conditions.
The police said that at 9:30 am today, a local person by the name of Md Abdul Madlip aka Ibomcha (46) registered an FIR saying that Md Hesamudin (56), Md Akhan (25), Md Frahaman (27) and Md Neijis Ahmed started the fight by attacking the hospitalized persons in connection with the 3 lakh rupees.
The locality is still reportedly tense with both the sides awaiting the results from the hospitals.
