The State Cabinet held a meeting today on the issue of tripartite talk involving the State Government, the Union Government and advocates of alternative arrangement a demand spearheaded by the United Naga Council and decided that the tripartite talk should held in Manipur.
Chief Minister O Ibobi, Speaker I Hemochandra, Education Minister DD Thaisii and MPCC president Gaikhangam would be visiting Ukhrul tomorrow.
Notably, UNC representatives, officials of Ministry of Home Affairs and the State Government had held a tripartite meeting at Senapati last year.
On the other hand, the State Cabinet convened a meeting and discussed about the tripartite talk.
The Cabinet meeting had a unanimous view that the tripartite talk should be held in Manipur, informed a reliable source.
The Cabinet entrusted the Home Department to ascertain exactly what the UNC has been demanding through the Ministry of Home Affairs.
The Cabinet also agreed on giving compensation for the loss suffered by Minister DD Thaisii when his house was set ablaze in the wake of ADC elections last year.
It also gave consent to installation of key-pad pre-payment meter system for single phase and three phase on promotional basis in Imphal area with regard to provision of electricity.
The Cabinet meeting further agreed on issuing NOC to Areca High School and St Anthony School for affiliation to CBSE.
It also approved the estimated amount that would be required for acquiring land necessary for expansion of Watham Leirak to RIMS traffic point via Fishery gate road, Maharani bridge to Khoyathong road, Khoyathong to Lilasing Khongnangkhong road and from North AOC to Khongnang Ani Karak.
The Cabinet meeting also discussed the show cause notice issued by the National Human Rights Commission with regard to the death of Limakhong Baite, LS Thangkhopao Baite and Thenminthang Baite at KR Lance (near New Checkon) on October 25, 2004 .
The Cabinet noted that one member each from the families of the three deceased has been provided Government employment by way of relief.
Noting that the matter has been amicably settled with the concerned families according to Kuki tribal customary law, the Cabinet entrusted the Home Department to furnish the status to NHRC with a request to close the enquiry.
