Imphal, May 10 2011:
The Kuki Organisation for Human Rights, Manipur has reiterated its demand settling issues related to murder of 900 innocent Kukis including women, children and even invalid; uprooting of over 360 villages and making more than 1,00,000 Kukis homeless in their own land before any agreement is arrived at between the Centre and the NSCN (IM) .
In a memorandum addressed to the Union Home Minister, Organisation chairman L Lunkim said Kukis are not demanding any special treatment but only asking Govt of India to do its duty and bring about a peaceful settlement.
"Without settling the damage done to the Kuki people, we will never be bound by any kind of possible agreement with the NSCN (I-M), which the Government of India classified as 'terrorist organisation", Lunkim said, while appealing to the Government to do the needful to show that it respects human rights.
