Cabinet in the mood to end teacher-govt impasse

The months old teacher-government impasse is likely to end as government is in the mood to agree to the demands of COTA and FECTAM regarding in toto adoption of revised pay bands recommended by the sixth pay commission.
The cabinet which met today again discussed at length the demands of COTA and FECTAM, SPF spokesperson N Biren said hinting that the cabinet discussions were mostly concentrated in the adoption of the sixth pay commission's recommendation to the government school and college teachers.
Cabinet will adopt a decision regarding the in toto implementation of the sixth pay commission recommendation after a talk with the representatives of COTA and FECTAM.
He and PWD Minister, K Ranjit have been entrusted to negotiate with COTA and FECTAM, the spokesperson said adding that talks will be held tomorrow.
The Cabinet approved to hold elections to the 10 vacant seats of the Autonomous (Hills) District Councils and amendment of the Manipur (Hills) District Council Act, 2008.As per the decision, state election commission will be asked to fix a date for holding elections to eight seats for Senapati ADC and two for Ukhrul ADC where elections could not be held due to non-filing of candidatures and withdrawal of candidatures.
The cabinet approved to extend the period of banning a no confidence motion against the ADC chairman from the existing one year to two years, the minister said, adding that amendment of Manipur Panchayati Raj Act banning removal of an Adhayaksha for two years has also
been approved.
