Youth cultural festival begins

Organised by Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan, Imphal Zone the three-day long State Level Yuvakriti and Cultural Festival began from today at Khuman Lampak Youth Hostel.
According to District Youth Coordinator of the host Sangathan Y Laksman participants of the three-day event were selected after similar programme at the district level.
Informing 14 youths each are representing each of the nine districts, he also stated that apart from presentation of folk songs and folk dances, an exhibition on food products by self help groups of the districts would be the other attraction of the event.
Speaking as the chief guest of the inaugural programme, Lamshang AC MLA W Brajabidhu stated that objective of organising State Level Yuvakriti and Cultural Festival is to provide a common platform to the young participants explore their potential in diverse fields in order to lay the foundation for their future choice of profession.
In her address, Art and Culture Director Dr K Sobita expressed satisfaction that Manipur has made significant progress in the field of art and culture.
Noting that through various art forms Manipur has occupied an important place of its own in the national and global context, she also called upon the participants to strive for continuous excellence.
Zonal Director of Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan Jackie Rivah stated that the ongoing event is the second of its kind organised by the Sangathan.
He said that focus of the Sangathan is to nurture talented artistes from rural areas.
