Right group condemns

Imphal, March 02 2011:
Taking serious concern to the force disappearance of a person and killing of an innocent elderly person by security forces, the Civil Liberties and Human Rights Organisation (CLAHRO), Manipur strongly condemned the inhuman act of the security forces in the state.
In a press release, the right group alleged that Longjam Suresh and Chabungbam Manglem were apprehended by security forces from Wangoi on Febraury 18 .
Manglem was released by the security forces while the whereabouts of Longjam Suresh is not known till now.
Stating that Suresh is a stammer, CLAHRO asserted that he was an innocent person who does not have any sort of relations with any UG groups.
Even if he was arrested on suspicion, security forces should made it public by now, it added.
The release further alleged that personnel of Thoubal district police commandos apprehended Athokpam Angousana, a 52 years old innocent person from his resident at Napet Palli Mayai Leikai on allegation of arm smuggling on February 27 at around 5 pm.
After beating him severely and sparing some few minutes of his life, the commando team dropped Angousana to his home on the next day.
Moreover they also robbed off Rs 2000 from the victim.
Later Angousana succumbed to the beating of commandos at RIMS hospital as soon as he arrived there.
Condemning the act atrocities of the security personnel, the right group demanded appropriate stern action against the personnel involved in the killing.
