Two Myanmarse nationals among 461 fresh cases
Mekola PHC shut as staff test positive; 26 cases at Nursing College

Imphal, January 25 2022:
Two Myanmarese nationals, four staff members of JNIMS and 26 from Nursing College, Lamphelpat have been found positive for Covid-19 as the state reported 461 fresh cases out of 2687 samples tested in the last 24 hours, registering a positivity rate of 17.16 per cent against 18.09 per cent recorded on Monday.
Meanwhile, two doctors and two staff nurses of Mekola PHC were also found positive for Covid-19 following which, the PHC has been shut down till February 2 .
Monday also reported four death cases which took the number of fatalities in the state to 2031.Two of them had received second dose of vaccines and the other two were unvaccinated.
Two were from Imphal East district and the other two from Imphal West district.
A total of 308 patients were discharged from home isolation (148), RIMS (4), JNIMS (27) and CCCs (129) in the last 24 hours, while the active caseload rose to 3599 out of which 1238 (34.40 per cent) are in home isolation.
There are 248 beds vacant in JNIMS and 161 in RIMS but there is no updated information on bed availability in Covid Care Centres.
Out of the 16 districts, only one did not report any fresh Covid cases on Tuesday.
So far, the state has recorded 1,01,551 positive cases and 1657 fatalities since the beginning of the second wave of the pandemic.
The current month has reported 5163 new positive cases and 29 fatality.
The weekly number of new cases and new fatalities have also risen to 3078 and 16 respectively.
According to official reports, the 461 fresh cases included 446 civilians (197 male & 249 female) and 15 personnel of Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) whose samples were confirmed at RIMS (40), JNIMS (29) and other testing centres (392).The positive cases from among the general population are from Imphal East (116), Imphal West (204), Thoubal (29), Bishnupur (23), Kakching (12), Kamjong (2), Kangpokpi (9), Jiribam (4), Ukhrul (2), Tamenglong (5), Tengnoupal (3), Noney (3), Senapati (6), Chandel (2) and Churachandpur (26).All necessary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.
The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 1,30,951 (general population - 1,26,053 and CAPF personnel - 4,898).Number of recovered cases is 1,25,321 (general population - 1,20,718 and CAPF personnel - 4,603) and number of active cases is 3599 (general population - 3311 and CAPF personnel - 288).The recovery rate has come down to 95.70 per cent.
A total of 260 D-type and 51 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities in the last 24 hours.
On the other hand, 7939 vaccine doses were administered on Monday and the cumulative number of vaccinated persons has reached 13,93,030 out of which 10,34,944 have got double doses and 17,286 had precautionary doses.
As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, the cumulative number of cases in different districts are Imphal West (46,373), Imphal East (28,982), Thoubal (9726), Churachandpur (10,718), Kangpokpi (2994), Tamenglong (3321), Bishnupur (9425), Senapati (2350), Ukhrul (3102), Kakching (6611), Chandel (2549), Noney (1112), Tengnoupal (1123), Jiribam (1096), Kamjong (1004) and Pherzawl (465) .
Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (681), Imphal East (487), Thoubal (179), Churachandpur (166), Kangpokpi (64), Tamenglong (14), Bishnupur (195), Senapati (11), Ukhrul (46), Kakching (117), Chandel (42), Noney (4), Tengnoupal (13), Jiribam (7), Kamjong (5) and Pherzawl (0) .
Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 42,201 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 28,404 CPM.
Test rate has improved to 4,88,117 tests per million population against the national average of 5,12,991 TPM.
Case fatality rate stands at 1.55 per cent.
In the past 24 hours, only 2687 samples were tested and the single day positivity rate was 17.16 per cent while the cumulative positivity rose to 8.65 per cent.
