ADC CEO accused of violating RTI Act

Imphal, January 25 2022:
Chief Executive Officer (CEO), ADC Chandel has been accused of intentionally violating RTI Act 2005 .
In a joint release, TS Konal Anal and Tongsin Behlung Anal of Abungnikhu village, Chandel said that they have been seeking information from the CEO since March 6, 2021 and sent the first two appeals to Chief Information Commissioner, Manipur on April 7 and September 18, 2021 respectively.
Since October 28 to December 7, 2021, and then from January 4 to January 21, 2022, the chief information commission kept extending or granting relaxation to the Autonomous District Council Office, Chandel from giving the information sought, the release informed, while adding that they have been patiently waiting to get the authentic information so as to ensure transparency of the public office.
The release cautioned of taking legal actions through High Court for ensuring the information being sought is provided, if the CEC fails to do justice.
Denial of information being sought is the beginning of corruption or is the root of corruption, it maintained.
The public servant, employed by the government should not delay nor hesitate from sharing relevant information to the people, if the citizens are eager to know the expenditure details of the public fund, the release added.
