Guv, CM, others greet on R-Day

Imphal, January 25 2022:
Governor La Ganesan, chief minister N Biren Singh, Manipur Legislative Assembly speaker Y Khemchand Singh, IGAR (S) Alok Naresh and all ranks of Assam Rifles have extended heartfelt greetings and warm wishes to the people of Manipur on the occasion of 73rd Republic Day.
In his message, the Governor said that it was on this day in 1950, that we gave ourselves a Constitution which is the guiding principle of our country.
"Despite reservations from various quarters, the experiment of democracy in India has been successful and we are going from strength to strength, respected by other nations.
On this occasion we should revere and offer our homage to those founding fathers for their foresight and understanding," he said and urged the people to work together to make our country strong, peaceful and prosperous.
Chief minister N Biren in his message said: "This day reminds us of our freedom struggle and how the great freedom fighters of the country sacrificed their lives to get us the Purna Swaraj.
It is because of their struggle that today we are living in a democratic country where every citizen enjoys the Fundamental Rights enshrined in our Constitution.
Today, we also remember all great men and women who contributed in framing of our Constitution" .
"On this day, let us reaffirm our unwavering commitment to uphold the ideals of our Constitution, advocate unity in diversity, fraternity and equality among all our citizens and strengthen our republic.
Let us also commit ourselves to appreciate and observe our Fundamental Duties" he added.
Manipur Legislative Assembly speaker Y Khemchand and IGAR (S) Alok Naresh in separate messages recounted the sacrifices made by the freedom fighters in establishing India, a republic.
The duo urged the people to work together for peace and harmony in the state and for the safeguard of this hard earned achievement.
