Clean poll pledge marks National Voters' Day event across state

Imphal, January 25 2022:
The state on Tuesday joined the nationwide observance of 12th National Voters' Day 2022 (NVD) held under the theme 'Making Elections Inclusive, Accessible, and Participative' .
The National Voters' Day, 2022 was celebrated at City Convention Centre, Palace Compound and attended by chief secretary Dr Rajesh Kumar as chief guest, director general of police P Doungel, additional chief secretaries Letkhogin Haokip, Paulunthang Vaiphei and Vumlunmang Vualnam as guests of honour of the programme presided by CEO Manipur Rajesh Agrawal.
While addressing the gathering, Dr Rajesh Kumar stressed on the importance of voters and election in democracy, stating that it is the decision of the voters that will decide the kind of government for the next five years.
In this context, it is our responsibility to take careful decisions in exercising our votes and selecting the right candidate, he said and pointed out that the Election Commission of India (ECI) has carried out many reforms for proper conduct of election.
As a responsible citizen it is our duty to inform the election machinery of any malpractices, inducement or violation of model code of conduct, the chief secretary stressed and called upon the electors to come out in large numbers and cast their valuable votes and to pledge for a free and fair election.
To ensure a COVID safe election, he further appealed to the voters to get vaccinated.
In his speech, CEO Rajesh Agrawal highlighted the progress of election process of the country since its inception and concerted efforts being made to make the electoral process truly 'Inclusive, Accessible and Participative'.
He expressed that the entire election machinery has unified and geared up to ensure free, fair, peaceful & participative elections in the ensuing state assembly election, 2022 .
As a part of the event, a photo exhibition on the SVEEP Campaign was formally opened by the chief guest.
Administering of National Voters' Day Pledge, presentation of newly enrolled voters with badges and EPIC, felicitation of SVEEP State Icons, launching of video on Ethical Voting, PwD & Video screening on SVEEP Campaigns and distribution of various awards were the main highlights of the event.
District election officers (DEO) of Imphal West Th Kirankumar, Chandel Mayanglambam Rajkumar and Churachandpur Pawan Yadav received the Star DEO Award during the event.
Electoral registration officers (EROs) of Khurai, Patsoi, Bishnupur, Lilong, Wangjing Tentha and Churachandpur bagged the Star ERO Award while BLOs of Churachandpur, Tamei, Thongju, Tamenglong, Karong and Thangmeiband received the Star BLO award.
Winners of State Level Ballot Battle Quiz Competition were also felicitated on the occasion.
The winners are Bishnupur District � Rajkumari Olivia Devi and Rajkumar Ishworchandra Singh of Loktak Christian Model High School, Moirang; Senapati District � Mashungam John Raikhan and Aiyush Katwal of Mt Everest Higher Secondary School and Imphal District � Md Arash Ahmed and Md Hibjur Rahaman EK Higher Secondary School respectively.
Additional CEO N Praveen Singh, joint CEOs Ramananda Nongmeikapam, Md S Daulat Khan and other officials also attended the event.
BISHNUPUR: District Election Office, Bishnupur and Nehru Yuva Kendra Bishnupur in association with Lingthoinganbi Leishaphan Girls Club, Ithing observed National Voters Day at Ithing community hall in Bishnupur district during which district election officer L Bikram expressed that the young voters are capable of making informed decisions to elect the best decision makers of the state and country.
Acknowledging that the youth also have the power to change the system, he encouraged young voters who comprise 7.44 per cent of the total electors of the district to exercise their franchise rights.
Elucidating on this year's theme 'Making Elections Inclusive, Accessible and Participative', he stated that the district administration, in its pursuit to ensure every single vote counts, has made all-out efforts to ensure voting rights to all eligible voters in the upcoming assembly election.
He later led the National Voters' Pledge taking during the observance.
To mark the occasion, Electoral Photo Identity Cards (EPIC) were distributed to newly enrolled voters during the function.
Prizes for the district level Ballot Battle Quiz competition conducted earlier were also distributed to the winners.
A lecture session on "Youth, drugs and Human Trafficking: Critical challenges" was also delivered by Childline Bishnupur director L Pishak Singh during the observance attended by Thanga RO Rishikanta, SVEEP nodal officer Dr Salam Dhanachandra, newly enrolled voters and youths.
THOUBAL: The 12th National Voter's Day function for Thoubal district organised by District Election Office, Thoubal was held at Counting Hall, DC Complex.
Speaking at the function, deputy commissioner A Subhash highlighted that special emphasis is being given to include PwDs and transgender in the electoral roll and appealed to the political parties, intending candidates and voters to make the upcoming Assembly Election free and fair in the district.
As part of the function, EPICs were distributed to the newly enrolled voters and prizes distributed to winners of district level Ballot battle quiz competition.
New Era Hr Sec School Thoubal, Khangabok Hr Sec School and Eastern Star Hr Sec School were respective the winner of first, second and third prize of the competition.
The programme was attended by ADM Lokeshwor Brahmacharimayum, AC to DC A Ruhinikumar, DLOs, newly enrolled voters and school students from different parts of the district.
CHURACHANDPUR: Churachandpur observed the 12th National Voters' Day on the theme 'Making Elections Inclusive, Accessible and Participative' on Tuesday at DTC Hall, Toibong.
The programme was organised by District Election Office and Deputy Commissioner Office.
Addressing the gathering, additional district election officer Yumnam Nelson said that we are empowered with duty and responsibility in electing the right leader and the privileged given to us as voters.
He urged the young voters to inculcate the message of ethical and informed voting for the betterment of the society.
Assistant election supervisor Dingluaia Varte administered the NVD pledge.
EPICs, NVD caps and T-shirts were also distributed to the newly enrolled voters during the function.
Winners of the district level ballot battle quiz competition and painting competitions were awarded citation and cash prizes.
DLOs, Officials from district election office, students and newly enrolled voters attended the function.
TAMENGLONG: The district administration along with CSOs, youth organisation, media houses and academic institutions celebrated the 12th National Voters' Day (NVD) at DC's Bungalow, Tamenglong district headquarters on Tuesday.
Tamenglong DC Hungyo Worshang, ADM Ningreingam Leisan and SDO Rohit Anand attended the celebration as chief guest and guest of honour respectively.
National Voters' Day was also celebrated at subdivision and booth level.
As part of the celebration, schools and colleges functioning in the district took the national voters' day pledge, newly enrolled voters presented with badges and EPIC cards and various awards were distributed.
