Assam Rifles nabs three NSCN (K) cadres

Kadamtala Bn of Assam Rifles apprehended three cadres of NSCN with sophisticated weapons and ammunition from New Kaiphundai area of Tamenglong district yesterday.
The cadres were involved in the incident on September 21, in which a truck driver was abducted after the driver refused to pay extortion money, said a statement issued by PRO of Assam Rifles.
The cadres had also resorted to firing around 10-15 rounds to intimidate the truck driver during the incident, it said.
The incident took place along NH-37 near Makru Bridge.
Assam Rifles in association with Manipur Police launched immediate operations to apprehend the perpetrator.
Two US made M series Assault Rifles with around 425 rounds of live ammunition and three hand grenades were recovered from their possession, it said.
The abduction of two employees of Coastal Construction Company on September 5 by LTT is a recent example of illegal activities carried out by different underground outfits, it said.
The press statement further claimed that, Kadamtala Battalion, as part of this drive, had earlier delivered a death blow to the underground outfits active in the area by neutralizing the SS C-in-C of the then UTLA group and apprehending four of its cadres with sophisticated arms and ammunition, in a series of operations which started from June 10 onwards.
In the recent past, four active cadres of ZUF, including its secretary of HR and Welfare were apprehended along with arms and ammunition from Ramgaijang village along NH-37, in Cachar district of Assam, it further claimed.
