Bomb attack on Yaisana bus in Ukhrul

The safety of civilians in Ukhrul town has been taken for a ride with random bomb blast as yet another powerful explosion shook the Saturday night.
This time, for reason best known to the assailants, a stationary passenger bus became a victim at 8.43pm at Gandhi Chowk.
This reporter was walking on foot at about 50-m away when the bomb ripped apart the front engine of the bus, parked at Gandhi Chowk just adjacent to Ukhrul police reserve.
Both the front tyres were punctured, window shields of the front shattered and as the engine blasted beyond repair with the mobil oil spilled over the road.
A smoke was seen bellowing from the bus and a putrid smell of the explosive was emanating the surrounding air when this reporter rushed to the spot within minute of the blast.
The impact was so strong that the window glasses of the nearby shops were broken.
On inspection, it appeared that the bomb was exploded just below the front engine of the bus as the body of vehicle bore the splinter's impact at different parts.
Police were on duty in the nearby areas when the explosion took place.
One handyman was sleeping in the cabin while two others were in the rear at the time of incident.
Fortunately, there was no human casualty.
This is the eight bomb blasts in as many as 8 weeks in Ukhrul.
