Imphal, May 23 2014 :
"Snowy" was not only a pet dog to Phungkhansiam and his family, it was a beloved member for this family in Bungmual Village of Churachandpur District.
The dog slept on the bed along with the family.
The dog bathed, ate and travelled together with them.
It was so friendly that it didn't bark or bit strangers.
The dog was found missing on the unfaithful evening of May 14 last.
Worried Phungkhansiam looked for 'Snowy' everywhere.
Failing to find, the family waited for their baby (as they call it) without sleeping till 3 am of the next day.
The owner came to know that their beloved dog was kidnapped and butchered for meat by 3 men from their locality.
He and his family, stricken with grief and anger but confused and helpless informed People for Animals Thoubal, Manipur.
During telephonic conversation with People for Animals (PFA) Thoubal, the family broke down in tears many times.

"He is very friendly, the very thought of his wagging the tail while heading for the guillotine makes our hearts bleed" cried the family.
They lodged an FIR to the Churachanpur Police Station.
PFA then provided them legal tips to teach the criminal a good lesson.
Stealing someone's pet and killing it for meat is a very inhumane crime.
Such criminals could be booked under section 428/429 of IPC for killing animals, section 378 of IPC for stealing and section 11 of Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
They could be imprisoned for a term of upto 2 or 5 years, or fined, or both.
PFA requested the police to look into the case more seriously and with Churachandpur Police starting their work, the three accused dog stealer and killers were arrested and produced before the court of CJM of Churachandpur.
The main accused identified as Thangmuanlal (26 yrs), s/o Khamkhanlian of Lamlian Veng, Bungmual was remanded and taken to Imphal for Judicial custody while the other two were bailed out.
Meanwhile, PFA has appealed to CJM and other concerned authorities to award the criminals the severest punishment the law allows, as killing a pet animal is almost like killing a human being.
Furthermore, PFA has appealed to all to be more compassionate to animals.
