Imphal, May 23 2014 :
Despite strong objection raised by Kuki chiefs, students and civil organisations of Khengjoy block, there is no indication, as of now, of the Government reviewing its decision to open a designated camp of KNLF at Semol village of Khengjoy block, Chandel district.
According to a source in the State Home Department, the Government has issued an order to construct a designated camp of KNLF at Semol.
Chandel A/C MLA Nunghlung Victor said that people heaved a sigh of relief when Kuki UG groups signed the Suspension of Operation pact but the Govt's decision to open a designated camp of KNLF at Semol would create trouble in the area.
Although both UKLF and KNLF are under SoO pact, they oppose each other and this fact is known to Kuki people as well as the Government.
Semol village is in the middle of the routes taken by the rival groups in their movement.
Opening a camp of KNLF at Semol village would multiply the chances of untoward incidents breaking out between the two rival groups.
In view of such possibilities and people's deep rooted apprehension, it would be better if the Government reviews its decision, said the MLA.
