Playwrights' workshop to culminate with shows

A 45-day Playwright workshop cum Production underway at Khengjonglang Theatre Complex, Keirao Khunou would culminate with the staging of three plays at Rupmahal Theatre on May 25 and 26.Speaking to reporters today at Khengjonglang Theatre Centre, the Workshop Director, S Thanil Leima said that with the attempt to groom more playwrights in the State the workshop has been organised by the Centre in collaboration with Sangeet Natak Akademi from March 28 this year.
A total of 35 persons registered participation in the workshop.
They have been imparted basic technique of writing plays and production process, Thanil
Leima said.
Ex-Director of National School of Drama, Prof Anuradha Kapoor taught the trainees on production process while Prof Th Jen trained them on modern Indian drama.
Turshar Pandey conducted acting classes.
Besides, Prof N Tombi, Dr Shantibala, Budha Chingtham, Indrakumar S, Loitongbam Brajamohan, Dr Lamabam Gojendra have spoke as the resource persons during the workshop.
A play titled Seven Letters written and produced during the workshop would be staged to the audiences on May 25 while two other plays would be staged the next day at Rupmahal Theatre.
The plays are directed by S Chinglennganba, Ratankumar and Premjit, she said.
