Imphal, May 23 2014 :
Kitchen rack of the cafeteria being constructed inside Millennium Garden, Lamshang with monetary assistance from Tourism Department has broken down and the toilet's septic tank has become dysfunctional, indicating total negligence of the qualitative aspect during the construction process.
With the objective of promoting tourism in the State, a cafeteria and a toilet was constructed with monetary assistance from Tourism Department in the privately run Millennium Garden.
The construction work began in March this year.
However, the kitchen rack broke down and the toilet's septic tank became dysfunctional even before the construction work was fully complete.
There was little supervision and the contractor constructed the cafeteria and the toilet at his own fancy without giving any attention to the qualitative aspect, said Yumnam Arun who developed the garden.

Even though Arun is the owner of the beautiful garden, he was never shown the blue print of the construction work.
Moreover, none of the officials concerned came to the garden when the construction work was going on.
The construction work was executed by two contractors from Khurai and Singjamei.
They have no intention to beautify the garden as their eyes are set only on exacting maximum profit out of the contract work, he fumed.
Asking as to why the two contractors did not pay any attention to qualitative aspect and why no engineers came to monitor the construction work, Arun said that he volunteered to water the wall as well as the floor of the cafeteria when they were constructed.
Arun said that the broken kitchen rack and the dysfunctional septic tank would be constructed anew from his own money.
