The AMSU volunteers and womenfolk who marched towards the residence of the Chief Minister from Moirangkhom side were stopped by the police near the Imphal West police station.
The AMSU members and womenfolk courted arrest, daring the cops to arrest them and demanded that all the detained leaders and volunteers of AMSU should be released without any condition immediately.
The AMSU leaders and volunteers were picked up for enforcing the total shutdown on December 10.After some time, a few representatives of the student body and women were allowed to proceed to the office of the SP to have a talk.
They were let off after the meeting with the SP.

The student leaders had yesterday refused to obtain bail.
Meanwhile students of different college affiliated to Dhanamanjuri University have decided to launch various forms of intense agitation if the leaders and volunteers of AMSU are not released unconditionally within 24 hours and also warned of boycotting the ongoing semester examinations.
This was stated by Anjali, Khongbantabam general secretary of GP Women College during a press conference held at DM University complex today.
The student leader said that they also strongly condemn the search of AMSU leaders and volunteers creating fear amongst the family members.
She urged the authority to stop such searches immediately and release all the detained AMSU leaders and volunteers unconditionally within 24 hours.
If the authority fails to release the arrested leaders and volunteers of AMSU unconditionally within 24 hours then various forms of intensified agitation will be launched, she warned and added that the ongoing semester examinations may even be boycotted.
She continued saying that though the students welcome the implementation of Inner Line Permit in the State it is not the time to celebrate without knowing how the ILP is going to protect the State from the Citizenship Amendment Bill.
The movement for the protection and safeguard of the indigenous people cannot be suppressed by making arbitrary arrests, she asserted.
The very fact that people of States which have been under the ILP System for long have raised their stand against CAB is a point that needs to be discussed minutely, said the student leader.
She also said that they will support any form of agitation taken up by AMSU further in connection with the issue and added that implementation of ILP should not lull the people into a sense of complacency.
