CPI meet bats for special category status to Manipur

Imphal, July 10 2022:
The three-day 23rd state conference of CPI Manipur State Council concluded on Sunday at Irabat Park, Lamlai with conference unanimously appointing L Thoiren as state secretary of the party.
On the concluding day, the conference appointed a 78-member state council including 25 executive council members.
Among other functionaries of the council, M Jaykumar and N Singhajit have been appointed as assistant secretaries and L Lala as treasurer.
The delegates also took oath for shouldering responsibility of the party and working for the downtrodden people with sacrificial spirit.
The concluding session of the conference was attended by Nupi Marup president M Sakhi, party leaders N Singhajit and M Somorjit as presidium members.
The conference also arrived at a resolution containing several points.
One of the important points in the resolution was mounting pressure on the Central government for allowing denizens of Thoubal and Kakching districts to contest in Lok Sabha election and approaching the Centre for granting special category state status to Manipur so that the state does not face any financial problem.
On the second day of the conference, CPI leader L Sotinkumar presented a political draft report and the same was discussed.
The report analysed the prevailing political situation at the international, national and state levels.
