Tribute paid to ex-minister Hemam Nilamani

Hemam Nilamani Foundation, Moirang on Sunday observed the 110th birth anniversary of former education minister Hemam Nilamani Singh, who was also a freedom fighter.
The programme held at INA hail, Moirang was attended by Moirang MLA Th Shanti Singh, IFCD retired chief engineer K Ibotomba Singh, Moirang ex-MLA M Prithviraj Singh and Central Agricultural University retired vice chancellor Dr M Premjit Singh as chief guest, president and guest of honours respectively.
Speaking at the event, MLA Shanti recalled the selfless sacrifices of the then chief minister M Koireng and minister Nilamani of Moirang and informed that it was the efforts of the two leaders that led to establishment of Moirang Multipurpose Higher Secondary School and Moirang College.
While pledging to follow the path of the two leaders and bring about positive changes in Moirang, the MLA urged the people to support the developmental works to be executed in the AC.
As part of the programme, two each meritorious stu dents in science and arts streams from Moirang assembly constituency, who secured highest marks in the HSE examination 2022, were felicitated.
Prizes to winners of a painting competition held in two categories under the theme 'Freedom Fighter Ajad Hind Fauj' were also distributed as a part of the tribute event.
