Anal-Meitei children's cultural exchange prog ends

Imphal, July 10 2022:
A 4-day Anal-Meitei Children's Residential Cultural Exchange Learning Pro -gramme organised as part of the series of programmes conducted by Manipuri Dance Foundation School (MDFS) under Chandrika Trust, Imphal concluded on Sunday at Cheengkhu village.
Anal and Meitei children showcased folk songs and dances as a part of the vale dictory function that culminated with Thabal Chongba.
In a release, MDFS media in-charge Deben Bachaspatimayum informed that the closing function of the programme jointly sponsored by Governor La Ganesan and Manipur Legislative Assembly speaker Th Satyabrata was attended by Naga Chiefs' Association president & Cheengkhu village chief Rungwar Tongsin as special guest, Anal Naga Tribal Association (ANTA) general secretary Jamhring Wanglum as president and T Mino village chief Thohring as guest of honour along with 70 other people from the surrounding villages.
Speaking as special guest, Rungwar Tongsin appreciated the initiative of MDFS and reconnecting the younger generation through cultural activities and arts.
He also thanked MDFS director Chhaya Devi Gurumayum for bringing such a cultural exchange learning programme among the younger generation who are moving away from their cultural tradition and practices.
The release also mentioned that the programme was participated by 22 children including 11 girls represent ing both Anal and Meitei communities.
Earlier, MDFS had organised a 5-day Children's Residential Cultural Exchange Learning programme between Rongmei and Meitei children at Tamenglong and Imphal under the sponsorship of Union Ministry of Culture.
The purpose of such programme is to reconnect the younger generations of both hills and valley through mutual appreciations of diverse cultures, folk tales, songs and dances, it further conveyed.
