Govt urged to set up women's market near ISBT

Imphal, July 10 2022:
Panthoibi Street Vendors' Union staged a sit-in protest on Sunday, demanding the state government to take a decision during the upcoming session of Manipur Legislative Assembly for setting up a women's market for vendors presently plying their wares along the Dingku Road, Imphal East district.
The sit-in was staged in front of the main gate of ISBT, Khuman Lampak.
Speaking on the side-lines, Union president Y Indrani recounted that the Union has been urging the government for setting up a market since 2011.The required fund for setting up the market was sanctioned during the time of the Congress government but no action has been taken up so far.
Thus, she urged the new state government to' take steps for constructing the women's market, failing which various forms of agitation would be launched.
