Moirang, September 01 2020:
Clarifying the claims made by some women folks that for Moirangkhunou GP Ward No 9, only 3 kgs of PGMKAY rice for the month of September were allowed to them, Ward Development Committee secy and ward co-agent Salam Joy stated that the incident was due to misinformation or lack of information on the part of those persons and an effort to stain the reputation of the co-agent and the Ward Committee.
In a press meet held at the residence of Salam Joy at Keibul Lamjao Mayai Leikai yesterday, the Ward Committee secy said that the incident is rather unfortunate, considering the tireless efforts of the MLA of the AC to ensure surplus supply of foodgrains to everyone in the AC.
Salam Joy further informed that only 3 kgs of PGMKAY rice were allotted for the month of September in advance and the same quantity was distributed to everyone regardless of card holders or non card holders, with the exceptions of widows, migrant workers and some underprivileged families who were allowed more than 3 kgs.
The incident would not have occurred if those persons would have enquired and obtained the correct information before publishing it in media, he added.
Thanga AC PDS nominee Oinam Chandrababu who was also present at the press meet stated that for the entire AC, 1337.35 quintal of rice under PMGKAY was allotted and for Moirangkhunou GP Ward No 9 along with Ward No 8 and 10, the allotted NFSA rice is 44.5 quintal and PMGKAY is 36.5 quintal, which are allotted to card holders and non card holders alike.
However, the distribution can be done according to Government orders and only PMGKAY card holders will be allowed the PDS rice under the scheme, he noted.
He also expressed disappointment over the 'false allegations' made against the MLA of the AC that bags of rice were distributed to some families and clarified that the bags of rice were personally sponsored by the MLA from his own pocket and distributed to a few selected families in extremely poor conditions.
