Imphal, September 01 2020:
Sapana Laishram, chairperson of Yening Animals Foundation (YAF), has urged the State Government and concern Department to take appropriate action against Motilal Thiyam who was arrested by Lamphel police for animal cruelty case.
She also urged the State Government to ban dog meat consumption in the State.
It may be mentioned that a memorandum was submitted to Chief Minister N Biren Singh on July 5 last by YAF to ban dog meat consumption and brutality to birds and animals.
"If the Government ignores our demand, we along with many local clubs will launch an agitation," she cautioned.
Seeing this canine friend as meat is very unfortunate, Sapana said and appealed all to stop abusing animals.
The animal rights activist also appealed to the State Government to keep at least one dog shelter in every district of Manipur under the Animal Welfare Board of India.
