Thoubal, September 01 2020:
Alleging that the State Government has failed to ensure National Food Security Act (NFSA) and Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY) effectively reach the beneficiaries and sections of the State, Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) vice-president Moirangthem Hemanta has said that the BJP-led Government is uncaring and inconsiderate.
Speaking to media persons at his Tentha residence, Hemanta cites examples of rampant short supply of rice under NFSA and PMGKAY at various locations of the State and expressed suspicion that the reason behind anomalies in distribution of relief rice may be due to involvement of those in official positions.
Alleging that concerned Deputy Commissioners have failed to maintain a proper register to record exact amount of rice lifted for distribution at various districts, he said there are many reports of short supply of rice at places and varying quantities of rice reaching to beneficiaries living in different Assembly segments clearly pointed out there is an open plunder going on in the broad daylight, he continued.
According to media reports of beneficiaries complaining about not receiving their share, around Rs 25 lakh worth of rice is missing, he said.
He demanded to constitute a three member enquiry committee in every Assembly segment to investigate into the missing quantity of rice allocated under NFSA in order to clear the doubts in the minds of the people.
