CCpur, January 31 2020:
The District Administration Churachandpur has set afoot plans to rehabilitate drug users found loitering on the streets, assigning the local police and Social Welfare Department for the job.
A circular issued by the Deputy Commissioner Churachandpur Pawan Yadav on Thursday said that any drug addicts found loitering by the police either on the streets, roadside or any other place within the town area will be enrolled in the Government-run Integrated Rehabilitation Centres located within the District.
Churachandpur currently has four of such centres, namely, Mangal IRCA at Torbung Bazar, Samaria IRCA at Nghathal, Lametnamun IRCA at Bungmual and New Life IRCA at Torbung Bungalow.
All the centres have an intake capacity of 15 each.
Those who cannot be accommodated in the centres will be enlisted in the wait-list to be prepared by the Social Welfare Department in consultation with the police to ensure that all enlisted individuals can be rehabilitated as and where vacancies are available, said the circular.
Further, Pawan Yadav has also called for a weekly report on the occupancy of the IRCAs so that additional centres, if the need arises, can be proposed to the Ministry depending upon the factual data report.
