Coronavirus screening booth set up at Jiribam

Jiribam, January 31 2020:
As an intensified measure to check the people entering Manipur from the neighbouring State of Assam, a novel coronavirus (nCoV) screening booth has been set up at the entry point of Jiribam by the District Health Society, under the instructions of the State Health Department.
People were scanned using infrared thermometers at the booth which was manned by the officials of the District Health Society Speaking to media persons, Chief Medical Officer of Jiribam Hospital, Dr E Okendro Singh said that the booth was set up after receiving formal instructions from the Health Directorate.
He then assured that there has been no report of anyone showing symptoms associated with the virus till date at Jiribam district.
Dr Okendro said that awareness programmes are being planned at Jiribam and Borobekara sub-divisons to make the people aware of the virus.
Till the time of filing this report, eight people entering Manipur through Assam have been checked/scanned at the booth.
