Urmila Chanam receives Intl award

Social worker and founder cum CEO of Breaking the Silence, Urmila Chanam has received the prestigious World Pulse Spirit Award for Sisterhood, which was announced by founder and CEO Jensine Larsen of the world's largest social network of women, accompanied by jury, board and community members yesterday from its HQs at Oregon, USA.
Urmila Chanam who joined World Pulse in 2010, has been working dedicatedly on empowering women, building a sisterhood among women, bringing in faith that women are stronger and better off together than on their own and upholding the spirit of World Pulse (which is to lift up those around her).
Women leaders Tamarack Verrall from Canada and Arrey Echi from Cameroon received the awards for the Ambassador and Encourager category.
Urmila has been a passionate trailblazer in 'breaking the silence' around menstruation and working for community development in different rural parts of not just India (including nine districts in Manipur) and several countries in Asia and Africa.
