Imphal, January 31 2020:
Denouncing the non-implementation of 7th Pay for college teachers despite repeated assurances, AMCTA (All Manipur College Teachers' Association) has reiterated that it will be holding a mass rally on February 6 .
A statement issued by the association said it held an executive meeting at Oriental College conference hall today and several resolutions were taken to pressure the Government.
Reminding the Government that it had earlier agreed in principle to implement the 7th Pay Commission, the association said the prolonged failure to deliver the assurance has undermined the interests of the teachers.
The association will be launching mass mobilisation from February 1 till February 5 and hold mass rally the next day (February 6) demanding implementation of the pay scale 'in toto,' it said.
It may be noted that AMCTA has been demanding implementation of the 7th UGC Pay scales for the Government college teachers since July 2018 and they had held talks with the Government on multiple occasions.
They had even submitted a reminder to implement the pay scale within this month recently.
