AITUC, AMNM demand implementation of Street Vendors Act

All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC), Manipur State Committee has condemned the use of force by State police towards women street vendors, during the protest demanding a suitable space for the street vendors.
A press release issued by general secretary, AITUC Manipur stated that the State Government has continued to turn a blind eye to the matter till date.
The Street Vendors Act 2014 has not been implemented in the State although the Supreme Court has issued necessary notification.
It urged the State Government to implement the Act at the earliest and provide appropriate space for the street vendors.
On the other hand, All Manipur Nupi Marup has decried the action of State force upon the women street vendors and the absence of women police personnel at the spot.
A press release issued by AMNP president further condemned the failure of the State Government to implement the Street Vendors Act 2014 .
It demanded the State Government to form a town vending committee and provide cards to the street vendors and to figure out ways to solve the issue amicably.
