Food safety drive conducted

To check food adulteration, Food Safety and Standards Enforcement Wing Moreh has conducted a food safety drive at Moreh bazar.
During the drive led by Food Safety and Standards Enforcement Wing Moreh Designated Officer L Subrata Singh and Moreh Police OC Letkhohao Vaiphei, the inspection team came across many vendors selling off mangoes.
The team also took samples of mangoes and apples to test for any adulteration.
The samples will be sent to Imphal and the result of the food adulteration test will be available after 14 days, said L Subrata.
The drive was conducted to check adulteration of food items (fruits) and seize any eatables without expiry dates.
Food adulteration is an illegal practise and causes serious health hazards to consumers, he said.
