State level marketing workshop commences

Council of Handicrafts Development Corporations (COHANDS) under Ministry of Textiles, Government of India in association with Handicrafts Service Centre, Office of Development organised a State level marketing workshop on "Promoting the handicrafts" at Classic Hotel today.
Addressing the inaugural of the two day workshop, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha), Ksh Bhabananda Singh encouraged the entrepreneurs and artisans of the State and stressed on the need to widen the markets for their products and not restrict the competition amongst themselves.
He said that entrepreneurs and artisans should understand the importance of marketing their finished products properly and creating new markets.
"We have many skilled artisans in the State and their products are in demand even in the international market", Bhabananda said.
He continued that in order to capture or widen the market outside the State, they should be able to maintain the quality of their products as well as meet the demand of buyers in terms of quantity.
During the evening session, CESD, Manipur University Guest Faculty, Dr S Herojit Singh spoke on Geographical Indication Act as the resource person, while Assistant Director (IMT), MSME, DI Imphal (retd) L Haridas Singh spoke on packaging of handicraft.
