Mass protest rally held at Chakpikarong

A mass protest rally against the alleged negligence of the Government to repair Chandel to Chakpikarong Road via Sugnu was held today at Chakpikarong Sub-Divisional headquarters.
The protest rally was organised by District Vigilance Committee, Chandel in collaboration with the Anal Naga Chiefs' Association Chakpikarong Sub-Division, Anal Lenruwl Taangpi, Chakpikarong Branch and Chakpikarong Block Youth Wing.
The rally began from Chakpikarong Govt High School where a large number of school students and villagers holding placards inscribed with the words We want good road" No good road, No development" We want equal development" etc proceeded to SDO Chakpikarong Office.
A memorandum addressed to the Governor of Manipur was handed over through Chirom Somorendra, Sub Deputy Collector (SDC) Chakpikarong.
While briefing the media persons, Bd Betha, President of District Vigilance Committee, Chandel said that the road stretch from Chandel to Chakpikarong via Sugnu has been neglected by present State government and no repair work has been taken up since 2004. The memo appealed the Governor of the State and the Central Government for immediate intervention considering the suffering of the people of Chandel District in general and the people of Chakpikarong Sub-Division in particular due to the pathetic road condition.
