Imphal, July 20 2021:
Zeliangrong Students' Union, Delhi (ZSUD) along with Zeliangrong community has hailed the July 19 order appointing Faumei Gonglin to the post of DIG retrospectively from January 1, 2019 .
In a release, ZSUD president I Smilingbo Pamai congratulated Faumei Gonglin on his appointment and expressed gratitude to Governor Dr Najma Heptulla for issuing the order.
The state government had earlier issued orders for closure of all alleged charges levelled against the IPS officer.
In an order issued in April, 2021, under-secretary (DP) Zorisang Thiek Pongote stated that in compliance of the Central Administrative Tribunal, Guwahati Bench order dated November 20, 2020, the Governor of Manipur is closing the departmental enquiry in connection with alleged irregularities in the procurement of leather belt (black) and in connection with the loss of arms and ammunition from PHQ Arms Kote at 2 MR Bn with immediate effect, it noted.
ZSUD continued that as IPS officer Gonglin's case has been settled and his long due promotion formally effected, it is in the greater interest of the state that his dignity and honour is returned with full respect.
ZSUD could not even imagine the hardship and agony that Faumei Gonglin and his family must have gone through during the trial time.
It is unimaginable to think how a person of integrity like him would be penalised for the wrong never done.
Instead, the people of Manipur have witnessed great works done by him and he has hugely contributed to the betterment of the Police Department in particular, it further mentioned.
