CC, TG, Johnstone to commence regular class from tomorrow

With Education Minister Moirangthem Okendro keeping his promise of putting in place necessary infrastructures and teachers, normal classes in TG Higher Secondary School, CC Higher Secondary School and Johnstone Higher Secondary School would commence from July 9 .
Announcing this during a joint press conference at TG Higher Secondary School here this afternoon, the principals of the three higher secondary schools said that since the Education Minister has translated all the assurances given into action, normal classes could begin from July 9 .
Commencement of normal classes in these three higher secondary schools was delayed following the instruction of the Education Minister to admit all the students seeking admission.
Principal of TG Higher Secondary School T Pramodini informed that unlike in previous years where only 200 students could be admitted in class XI science stream, 895 students have been admitted this time.
Similarly, in arts stream, 332 students have been admitted as against the normal intake capacity of 200 students.
Along with that necessary teachers have been posted and desks as well as benches provided.
There would be in all 9 sections in science stream.
She further informed that in all 56 new teachers have been posted in TG Higher Secondary School and the names of these teachers uploaded on the website of Education Department.
Among the students admitted this time, 19 of them including four who secure above 80 percent marks would be given free education.
Although construction of extra class rooms is nearing completion, there would be the need for expanding the science laboratory and improvement of other infrastructure, the Principal observed, adding that it would have been even more easier if the hostel building being constructed had been completed in time.
Principal of CC Higher Secondary School M Indrani informed that this year, 451 students have been admitted in class XI science stream as against the normal intake capacity of 120 students while in the arts stream the number of students admitted has been increased to 152 from 100.But in case of commerce stream, the number of students admitted almost remains the same at around 30 .
She also informed that in accordance to the increase in the number of students admitted in CC Higher Secondary School, the government has provided the required benches, desks and teachers.
To accommodate the students, the hall of the school too has been converted into class rooms.
In addition to the existing 65 teachers in the schools, another new 13 teachers have been posted, she added.
Principal of Johnstone Higher Secondary School L Indu, who was also present during the press conference, said that till last academic session, the intake capacity of students in class XI science stream was 250 only, but this time 320 students have been admitted and 15 new teachers posted to take care of the increased number of students.
