Imphal, July 07 2012:
The Kuki Students' Organisation (Ghqs) has submitted a memorandum to the Education Minister urging for re-engagement of teachers appointed on contract basis in the hill districts under the education department.
Seeking due consideration of the demand, the KSO memo warned of launching bandh, hartal, or other forms of agitation to make its demand fulfilled.
The representation pointed out shortage of 2152 teachers in the hill district at present as per assessment made by several organisations.
It said that it is very much feasible for the Education department to re-engage the 722 contractual teachers to meet the shortage.
