Imphal, August 01 2014 :
The State unit of Communist Party of India (CPI) today alleged that the three MPs from Manipur were in 'hibernation' totally ignoring the Inner Line Permit (ILP) issue.
Demanding imposition of ILP system under Bengal Eastern Frontier Regulations, 1873 in Manipur, leaders of All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC), All India Youth Federation (AISF), All India Students Federation (AISF) and Manipur Loumi Marup staged dharna inside the campus of Irabot Bhavan here.
Referring to the ongoing demands for introduction of ILP system in the state, CPI Manipur State Council's member and former MLA N Mangi alleged that all the three MPs representing Manipur in the Parliament had remained hibernated paying no heed to the public's demand for implementation of ILP in the state.
Mangi said, "I think Lok Sabha MPs Dr T Meinya, Thangso Baite and Rajya Sabha MP Abdul Salam are now closing the eyes on the issue of ILP because they got elected through fraud means" .
CPI welcomes the proposed All Political Party meeting over the ILP issue before a joint delegation of the All Political Party and the Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System (JCILPS) leaves for New Delhi to press the Central Government for imposition of ILP system in Manipur, Mangi said.
The ILP issue demands sincerity from all sections, Mangi said, but added that the ruling Congress is not honest over the issue.
