Seminar on Aimol culture, literature held at Chandel

Under the theme 'Rise and Shine', a day-long seminar on the Culture and Literature of Aimol community was held today at the premises of Aimol Satu Sports Complex in Chandel district.
The seminar was organised by Aimol Students' Union Delhi and Aimol Worship Service, Delhi.
ADC member Pacho Chongom and Head Master of Aimol Khullen Junior High School SL Darengthui were respectively Chief Guest and President of the inaugural function of the seminar which was also attended by Chairman of BTCABA Kh Khotinkhup as Guest of Honour.
Speaking on the occasion, President of Aimol Students' Union, Delhi Chongom Aron recalled that Aimol community was recognised as a Schedule tribe by the Indian Constitution in 1956 .

However, lack of written documents on the culture and traditions of the community was a major setback in the process of development of the community.
Emphasising on the need to conserve the different types of traditional dresses of Aimol community, many of which are used rarely today, the student leader observed that the seminar has been organized with an aim to press the concerned Ministry to set up a weaving centre for weaving the traditional dresses of Aimol and preserving them.
He also stressed the need to conserve the folktales of the community.
