Pre-poll crackdown IE commando nab two PLA cadres

Imphal East police commando arrested two cadres of proscribed RPF/PLA who were allegedly involved in demanding money from the intending candidates of the forthcoming elections and existing MLAs.
Speaking to the press at the Imphal East district police Hqs, District police commando OC Inspector Chandrakumar informed that a cadre identified as Okram Sharatchandra (45) of Pukhao Laipham was arrested along with a mobile handset today morning around 7.30 from Wangkhei Ningthem Pukhri Mapal by a combined team of Imphal East and Imphal West police commando.
As follow-up action taken up after recovery of the mobile phone, another cadre identified as Wahengbam Sunil (42) alias Devan of Sega Road Thouda Babhok Leikai was nabbed at around 10.30 am from New Checkon area.
The OC informed that Sharatchandra joined RPF through self styled revenue officer of the group Salam Ajit Luwang in 2006 .
Informing the verification report, OC Chandrakumar maintained that Sharatchandra already printed out 25 demand letters through two e-mail IDs which were sent through SMS by Ajit Luwang some few days back and some letters were already given out to two unidentified cadres.
Sunil also disclosed that he took the demand letters from Sharatchandra, he added.
Nine demand letters which were addressed to some intending candidates of Andro and Keirao constituencies and a mobile handset were recovered from Sunil's possession.
The remaining demand letters were addressed to the intending candidates of Wangkhei, Kshetrigao, Heingang, Khurai, Lamlai, Thongju, Keirao and Khudrakpam Constituencies, he added.
