On EC's recommendation SPs named

With the Election Commission of India (ECI) mounting a strict vigil over the activities of the State Government in order to ensure free and fair election, four IPS officers have been recommended for the post of Superintendents of Police for Imphal West, Imphal East, Churachandpur and Tamenglong districts.
Responding to the ECI's instruction to appoint full time SPs for the four districts ahead of the Assembly elections, the State Government submitted a list of 10 police officers eligible to be SPs for these districts.
Out of the panel submitted by the State Government, the ECI recommended Nishit Kumar Ujjwal for the post of SP Imphal West, HT Gangte for Imphal East, K Radhashyam for Churachandpur and Themthing Ngashangva for the post of SP Tamenglong.
A letter was sent to Chief Secretary DS Poonia by ECI Secretary Anuj Jaipuriar to this effect today.
The letter also asked the State Government to inform the ECI about implementation of its instruction.
The State Government issued an order today itself assigning the post of SPs to the four recommended IPS officers.
Meanwhile, preparations have been started for taking photographs of electors after voting in all polling stations, specially sensitive polling stations and those located at remote areas.
Photos taken at polling stations would be compared with the photos present in photo electoral rolls.
In case the photos do not match, re-polling would be held in the particular polling stations.
On the other hand, DIG S Manglemjao who was appointed nodal officer for monitoring election expenditure has been relieved of the additional duty of election control room by an order issued by the Department of Personal today.
The responsibility for election control room has been handed over to 2nd MR Deputy Commandant Th Shyamsunder.
