Imphal, January 28 2013:
Even as the State Government has been spending huge amount of money in construction of roads for public convenience, the black topping along the stretch of road at Hodam Leirak in Imphal West district has been done in such a manner that it could be easily removed with scratch by bare hands.
The black topping of the 605 metres long and three metres wide stretch of Hodam Leirak connecting Tiddim road with Keishamthong started a few days back.
The process of black topping continued today along the western side of the road stretch.
However, it has been done in a such a pathetic manner that the entire layer of tar applied as rolled up like a carpet.
Locals of Keishamthong Hodam Leirak told media persons that the black topping has been carried out in namesake only and no quality of the work has been maintained.
Mohori of PWD, who came to inspect the work progress, pointed out that the process of black topping appeared to have carried out without cleaning the dust on the road.
Though complaints have been lodged with the concerned authorities, no action has been taken up so far.
It is learnt that the road construction work has been taken up with funding under SPA, 2011-12 .
