Imphal, January 28 2013:
The State unit of Aam Aadmi Party, started by social activist Arvind Kejriwal, would soon be floated, said member of the National Executive Committee of AAP, Habung Payeng, who is also the party in-charge of NE India.
Addressing a press meet today at Manipur Press Club, Habung Payeng said the party would debut in the ensuing Parliamentary election.
Habung Payeng, a journalist and former State Information Commissioner of Arunachal Pradesh said he is touring the NE States in his attempt to organise and mobilise the party.
He said that a preparatory committee would be set up in the State first.
The party was formed on November 24 last year in New Delhi with Arvind Kejriwal as its convenor.
Announcing that the party's unit would also opened in Assam shortly, Payeng said that the party has its units in 12 States of the country covering 300 districts.
"We don't largely maintain the system of hierarchy," Payeng said adding that no membership is granted to people who have any corruption and criminal charge/record.
Any member found involved in graft cases would lead to his/her immediate termination from the party.
The party, which strongly believed in Swaraj (self-rule), would also emphasis on power decentralisation, he said.
In order to check corruption, the system should be changed first.
As such, decentralisation is a necessity, Habung said.
AAP would also be involved in State issue, and it would relentlessly commit to work for the common issue of North East, Payeng said adding the party would work in such style that it becomes exemplary for other political parties.
