State to have SE Asia Mega Handloom Cluster

Keeping in mind the Look East Policy of India, the Government of Manipur ids preparing to establish a South East Asia Mega Handloom Cluster in the State, Commerce and Industries Minister Govindas Konthoujam has informed.
He was speaking as Chief Guest of the inaugural function of a Common Facility Centre at Uripok Polem Leikai
here today.
Stressing on the need to produce handloom and jewellery items to meet the growing demand, the Minister noted that not only meeting the demands is necessary, but producing quality products is also equally important.
Delivering the Presidential speech, MLA L Nandakumar said that we should be hard working if we want to live a life happily and contentedly.
We should not only go after white collar jobs or Government jobs.
But we should try and give employment to ourselves and be self employed,
observed.
The function was also attended by O Nabakishore, Principal Secretary, Commerce and Industries, Government of Manipur; T Rollee Vareishim, Assistant Director (H) Marketing and Service Extension Centre; Kh Somorendro, Director Institute of Cooperative Management, Lamphelpat and Sanamani Yambem, retired General Manager, NABARD as Guests of Honour.
